Andrea Botero: Collective and cumulative, some strategies of every day design-in-use

Andrea Botero’s presentation revisits material from two distinct research and development processes she has participated in the past, to exemplify several aspects of every day design-in-use relevant for contemporary collaborative design practices. Her interest is to sketch several propositions for ways in which co-design and participatory practices can negotiate a place between contributing towards the creation of new cultures of knowledge; and furthering a mere “commoditization” of user involvement in design and development processes. The empirical material includes examples and design interventions around new practices of growing old together through shared forms of housing, as well as urban forms of civic participation through practices of issue sharing and issue reporting.
