Nathaly is a doctoral student at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture. Her research focuses on design production and democracy: how can design support non-dominant culture citizens better representation and increase of participation. Her interests are on the impacts of design actions outside economic development concerns and how participatory and collaborative design teaching can support social innovation in practice.
Nathaly’s background is editorial design (M.A., Utrecht Graduate School of Visual Art and Design -MaHKU). She has worked as an professor teaching to undergrad design students at Pontificia Universidad Católica del Ecuador, and for almost a decade as a designer consultant, on identity construction and advocacy impact in collaboration with different NGO’s, networks and governmental institutions in local and regional projects in Andean América.
